Programme Structure & additional activities
All students spend the first semester at the University of Konstanz, the second semester at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and the third semester at Jagiellonian University in Krakow. In the last semester, students complete their MA thesis on one of the three Universities, depending on their main discipline. Students with a focus in linguistics will spend the last semester in Konstanz or Thessaloniki. Students with a focus in education will spend the last semester in Thessaloniki. Students with a focus in psychology or migration studies will spend the last semester in Krakow.
The curriculum is structured to build on the expertise of each institution, ensuring a seamless progression from linguistic foundations to educational applications and social-scientific perspectives. Faculty collaboration across institutions allows students to engage with diverse methodologies, enhancing both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The programme also integrates cross-institutional supervision and mentoring, allowing students to tailor their research to align with faculty expertise at different stages of their academic journey.
The language of instruction is English. Upon availability, there might also be courses taught in German, Greek, Polish or other languages.

Additional activities
Summer school
The summer school is organised at the end of the 2nd semester in Greece and is a 5-day event, consisting of lectures and seminars in the morning and practical workshops in the afternoon. Some of the lectures and seminars focus on multilingualism and cultural diversity from the perspective of psychology and sociology to familiarise students with these disciplines. Another part of the lectures / seminars is dedicated to contributions from associated partners in order to share their knowledge and expertise with the students. The afternoon workshops include workshops on science communication as well as soft / transferable skills. One afternoon is dedicated to discussing topics for Master theses. Potential thesis supervisors propose topics and explain research areas and methodologies required. This gives students the opportunity to start thinking about the topic of their thesis. The summer school is compulsory and students obtain 1 ECTS for their participation.
Internship
An important component of the programme is a 5-week internship. Students can choose where they complete their internship. They undertake a full-time internship, either in a research organisation or within a company or institution. This enables them to gain hands-on experience in an academic or non-academic workplace, and develop key competences and transferable skills, including communication and digital skills. This can significantly improve and broaden their employability opportunities as well as help the students build a network. The internship can be completed at any time after the end of the 3rd Semester. This internship awards students 5 ECTS credits. Students can complete their internship at one of the associated partners of the consortium or at any other organisation that provides activities related to the programme. Following the end of the internship, students are expected to submit a brief description reflecting on the activities they undertook during their internship.
The introductory week takes place each year in Konstanz and it covers academic and non-academic topics. These will include an introduction to multilingualism and cultural diversity, an overview of the disciplines and structure of the programme, an introduction to EU values and opportunities of Erasmus+, as well as training in academic writing. Students meet staff from all three Universities and fellow students from other MA programmes. They are introduced to administrative processes of the programme, including examination regulations. Non-academic topics include orientation on campus, tour to the library as well as its online services, registering at the city, and opening a bank account. During the introductory week students elect their representatives for the Teaching & Learning Committee and the Quality & Management Committee. The introductory week includes social events, e.g. a guided tour in Konstanz. Associated partners are invited to contribute to the academic aspects of the introductory week.
Introductory Week
Joint visits
To enable the editions to meet each other and gain first-hand experience with organisations supporting migrants and refugees, from the second edition onwards, students from two editions take part in a 3-day visit of such organisations. There is in total three such visits throughout the programme. The visits are organised by one of the following associated partners: the University of Geneva that organises Solidarity Cafes on the campus and also collaborates with the Red Cross in Geneva, Associazione La Nostra Famiglia (MEDEA), a hospital close to Como, Italy that assesses and treats multilingual children with language impairment, and Fundacja wspierania kultury i języka Polskiego im. Mikolaja Reja (The Foundation for the Promotion of Polish Culture and Language), an NGO in Krakow supporting pupils with a migration background. In addition to the valuable experience from visiting these institutions, students also have the chance to meet the students from the other editions.
