University of Konstanz (UKON)

Since its foundation in 1966 as a reform university, the University of Konstanz (UKON) has stood for top-level research, excellence in teaching and learning, internationality as well as interdisciplinary collaboration. This distinctive orientation soon led to the development of a profile that stands out due to a focus on high levels of quality, innovation and creativity in all aspects of our work. Since 2007, UKON has been successful in the Excellence Initiative of the German Federal and State Governments. While it is one of the smaller German universities with around 10,000 students, UKON is the number one German university for attracting third party funding per capita of all academic staff.  

MultiDiverse is hosted at the Department of Linguistics, a research intensive department with 12 full professors and their teams. The department brings expertise in all core linguistic domains, in language acquisition, multilingualism, as well as human and computational  processing. The department has excellent research facilities, the LingLabs, that enable conducting research using cutting edge methodologies. LingLabs comprises six laboratories: the BabyLab, the Computational Linguistics Lab, the Neurolinguistics Lab, the Phonetics Lab, the Psycholinguistics Lab, and the Multisensory Lab. It hosts also the Centre for Multilingualism, a branch of the international network Bilingualism Matters that brings together interdisciplinary research on multilingualism and organises science communication activities that transfer knowledge from science to the society.

Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh)

Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) is the largest university in Greece. The main campus is located in the centre of the city of Thessaloniki, and covers an area of about 33.4 hectares. It comprises 10 faculties which consist of 40 schools and 1 single-School Faculty. About 88.283 students study at the Aristotle University, 77.198 in undergraduate programmes and 6.588 in postgraduate programmes. There are also 3.952 at Doctoral level). There are 1.682 faculty members. There are also 311 members of the Special Laboratory Teaching Personnel (S.L.T.P.). AUTh conducts research projects, participates in European research programmes and projects, cooperates with international institutions and organizations, and attracts outstanding researchers from within Greece and abroad. The research policy of the Aristotle University focuses on promoting quality, and encouraging excellence.

MultiDiverse is hosted at the Department of Linguistics in the School of Philology. The Department of Linguistics is a research active department with 12 staff members who bring expertise in all core linguistic domains, as well as in philosophy of language, historical linguistics, Balkan linguistics, language acquisition, psycholinguistics, and language learning pedagogies. It has the LingLab that hosts research projects and organises a range of activities.

Jagiellonian University (JU)

Jagiellonian University (JU) is the oldest higher education institution in Poland and one of the oldest in Europe. It was founded on 12 May 1364 by the Polish king Casimir the Great. The year 2024 marked the 660th anniversary of this remarkable event. Since its very beginning, the Jagiellonian University has been an international institution. Today, JU comprises 16 Faculties, where nearly 5 thousand academic staff conduct research and provide education to almost 40 thousand students, within the framework of more than 150 different fields of study. Eminent researchers and state-of-the-art infrastructure make the JU one of the leading Polish scientific institutions, collaborating with major academic centres from all over the world. JU is also home to numerous student research societies, where young researchers pursue their academic interests and develop friendships with people who share their passion.

MultiDiverse is hosted at the Institute of Psychology (Faculty of Philosophy) which houses a state-of-the art research infrastructure and is a home to Psychology of Language and Bilingualism Lab as well as Bilingualism Matters Krakow. The study program also involves the University faculty members from: the Institute of Sociology (Faculty of Philosophy), the Institute of Applied Psychology (Faculty of Management and Social Communication), as well as the Institute of American Studies and Polish Diaspora and the Institute of European Studies (Faculty of International and Political Studies).

University of Geneva (UNIGE)

The University of Geneva (UNIGE) offers internships to students who are interested in psycholinguistics, language learning interventions using educational translanguaging, and extracurricular activities for language learning of migrants and refugees. Internships are offered by Dr Julie Franck who is an expert in psycholinguistics, has developed language learning interventions using educational translanguaging and has set up a Solidarity café and a buddy scheme program (UNIR) for individuals with forced migration in Geneva. Apart from offering an internship to students who are interested in these topics, she will contribute to teaching at the summer school and at courses related to education.

Associazione La Nostra Famiglia (MEDEA)

Associazione La Nostra Famiglia (MEDEA) offers internships to students who are interested in assessment and remediation of multilinguals with language impairment. Internships are offered by Dr Maria Luisa Lorusso who is a speech and language therapist specialising in assessment and remediation of multilinguals with language impairment. Apart from offering an internship to students who are interested in these topics, she will contribute to teaching at the summer school and at courses related to language development and language impairment in multilinguals.

Universidade Eduardo Mondlane (UEM)

Universidade Eduardo Mondlane (UEM) offers internships to students who are interested in the multilingualism context of Mozambique. Internships are offered by Prof Feliciano Salvador Chimbutane is an educational sociolinguist, specialised in language policies and practices in multilingual classrooms in Mozambique and their relationship with political, social, cultural and socioeconomic factors. Apart from offering internships, he will also contribute to teaching at the summer school and at courses related to multilingual education and language policies.

University of Pretoria (UP)

University of Pretoria (UP) offers internships to students who are interested in interculturality and the multilingual context of South Africa. Internships are offered by Prof Stephan Mühr, who is an expert on interculturality, has worked on interculturallearning and conducted research in Namibia. Apart from offering internships, will also contribute to teaching at the summer school and at courses related to cultural diversity.

Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC)

Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC) offers internships to students who are interested in language development and language impairment in children within the context of Brazil and its language varieties. Internships are offered by Prof Letícia Sicuro Corrêa, an expert in psycholinguistics and language impairment in children as well as language varieties in Brazil. Apart from internships, she will also contribute to teaching at the summer school and at courses related to language acquisition and language impairment.

Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP)

Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP) offers internships to students who are interested in psycholinguistics and language varieties in Brazil . Internships are offered by Prof Pablo Faria, an expert in psycholinguistics and language corpora. Apart from internships, he will also contribute to teaching at the summer school and at courses related to psycholinguistics and language corpora.

The English and Foreign Languages University (EFL)

The English and Foreign Languages University (EFL) offers internships to students who are interested in multilingual education and the multilingual context of India. Internships are offered by Prof Lina Mukhopadhyay, an expert in multilingualism and multilingual education. Apart from internships, she will also contribute to teaching at the summer school and at courses related to multilingual education, materials design, multilingual lesson plans and assessment.

University Putra Malaysia (UPM)

University Putra Malaysia (UPM) offers internships to students who are interested in multilingualism in Malaysia. Internships are offered by Professor Ngee-Thai Yap, an expert in psycholinguistics and multilingualism in Malaysia. Apart from internships, she will also contribute to teaching at the summer school and at courses related to multilingualism and multiliteracy.

University of Pristina (UIP)

University of Pristina (UIP) offers internships to students who are interested in multilingualism within the context of the Western Balkans. Internships are offered by Prof Shkumbin Munishi, a sociolinguist who is conducting research in language policy, language and ideology, multilingualism, and the linguistic landscape in Kosovo. Apart from internships to students, he will also contribute to teaching at the summer school and at courses related to language ideology and policy.

Bilingualism Matters (BM)

Bilingualism Matters (BM) offers internships to students who are interested in science communication. Internships are offered by Prof Antonella Sorace, an expert in language development together with Dr Katarzyna Przybycien, the CEO of BM, who are experts in science communication and leading the BM network of science communication branches worldwide. Apart from offering internships , they will provide training in science communication at the summer school.

Solidarity Now (SN)

Solidarity Now (SN) is an NGO supporting individuals with forced migration in Thessaloniki. SN provides internships to students who want to stay in Thessaloniki for their internship and gain practical experience in working with individuals with forced migration in Greece. In addition, members of SN will contribute to the summer school by providing information about their work

Stand by me Lesvos (SbmL)

Stand by me Lesvos (SbmL) is an NGO supporting individuals with forced migration in Lesvos, including language classes. SbmL provides internships to students who want to do an internship in Lesvos and develop practical skills about supporting individuals with forced migration.

Integration and Education Offices of the City of Konstanz (CK) 

The Integration Office of the City of Konstanz (CK) is working on the integration of individuals with a migration background in Konstanz and the Education Office on supporting families in their education with particular focus on families with a migration background. These two offices offer internships to students who want to do their internship in Konstanz and develop practical skills in the integration of migrants and in liaising with families regarding the education of their children.

Volkshochschule Konstanz (VHS)

Volkshochschule Konstanz (VHS) is an education organisation in Konstanz that provides language and alphabetisation classes to individuals with a migration and forced migration background. VHS offers internships to students who want to do an internship in Konstanz and develop practical skills related to language and alphabetisation teaching.

Fundacja Wspierania Kultury i Języka Polskiego im. Mikolaja Reja

Rey Foundation is an NGO in Krakow supporting pupils with a migration background and school teachers who have children with a migration background in their classrooms. Fundacja Reja offers internships to students who want to stay in Krakow for their internship and gain experience in supporting children and teachers in Poland.

Internationaler Bund Polska

Internationaler Bund Polska is a foundation established in Krakow at the turn of 2004 and 2005. The main goals of the foundation are: helping people to develop themselves in different areas and planning their own future life, to integrate with the society, to be responsible for themselves and to be active citizens who are helping to develop local communities and society. The foundation tries to stimulate action for the benefit of the individual as well as the whole society in order to support and build mutual international understanding and cooperation. The target groups include children, teenagers, young adults, seniors, people with  disabilities, migrants, and refugees (with the Multicultural Centre being one of their initiatives), as well as individuals with fewer opportunities. Internationaler Bund Polska offers internships to students who want to stay in Krakow for their internship and gain experience in supporting children, teenagers, young adults, seniors, migrants and refugees, people with disabilities and fewer opportunities.
